Alcohol

Going forward

I think I want to stick by this, because I'm noticing I'm losing weight, and not sure I benefit from alcohol much beyond a few drinks. If I can have a good night out on two drinks, then, well, I'll just do that.

I think for December I will grant myself, say, a maximum of two licenses to binge-drink; beyond that I must avoid alcohol in the usual way, drinking at most two pints or equivalent in a given night. Then, from January, I may well practise dry January, or indeed go for reduced alcohol intake for a further few months, perhaps six.

Currently

I have begun a partial alcohol detox staring 04-Sep-26 until 04-Dec-26, in which I will :-

  • not binge drink at all
  • allow myself one or at most two alcoholic drinks on a night out

This is basically stopping heavy drinking on a night out, and so I can still drink a small amount to, e.g. try new things, or whet the whistle a little on a day out.
